Dear friends and family,

My name is Melissa and I'm reaching out to ask for your support and prayers for someone who never asks anything from anyone but is always putting her hand out to help others.

Carisa Prough is a dental hygienist I work with and she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Carisa is only 44 years old and found out this tragic news just recently after a routine mammogram. Because she has a family history of a rare gene she is considered higher risk and will be undergoing a life changing operation in hopes of eradicating any further progression or regression.

Carisa relocated to Bucks County in 2000 and currently lives alone with her dog Clovis. Needless to say she is worried about how she will be able to perform everyday activities but more importantly she is worried about the overwhelming medical expenses in addition to her daily living expenses.

This is where we can help. Any amount you can give will help and be greatly appreciated.

As of now we know that she will be out of work for at least 6-8 weeks. She is not paid salary and will not be receiving any type of disability. This means she will be completely without income for that time period. If she has to continue with radiation after the surgery she will be out for even longer, without any type of compensation.

This is just heartbreaking. Imagine one day you're planning a day at the beach with your dog and the next day you're scheduling oncology and surgery appointments, all while going to work and trying to keep a smile on your face while you treat patients that you don't want to reschedule because you know they've been waiting to come in and see you. That's a true story and describes the kind of person Carisa is. She's always smiling and keeps a positive attitude. She will brighten someone's day whether by feeding them with her delicious gourmet concoctions, as she loves to garden and create dishes from her harvests or by telling silly jokes about alligators in vests being investigators.

I'm doing this because Carisa needs and deserves help. Please help if you can. Thank you!
