I have been given the opportunity to go to New York and participate in Actor Therapy - an actors' intensive for musical theater performers with Broadway dancers, casting directors, performers, etc. Created by Tony-winner Lindsay Mendez & Kleban Prize-winner Ryan Scott Oliver, Actor Therapy (established 2012) is a groundbreaking training program that nurtures and enriches musical theatre artists at any stage in their careers. I was specifically admitted into their Winter Intensive: a two week long intensive designed for performers working toward an acting career in NYC. This is an experience that I could only dream of at this point in my career. Everything feels right and passing up this opportunity is not something I wish to do.
The intensive starts at the beginning of January and runs for two weeks. The issue I've run into is tuition. Though I was granted a scholarship, and I'm very thankful for that, there's still a large portion of tuition I still have to pay, as well as plane tickets.
If you're willing and able, if you considered donating to the cause this holiday season, it would mean supporting the next phase of this young actor's life. Feel free to share with friends, family, everyone! It is very much appreciated, and have a wonderful holiday season!
Any support is welcome and appreciated. Get this young black performer to New York!
