Help my dad, Bob Sinclair, lost everything in fire
This is my dad Bob on the right with one of his closest friend mike.
me and my dad 21 or 22 years ago ❤️❤️
Hello everyone my name is Hailey Sinclair, daughter of Bob Sinclair, who is a long haul trucker. On Sunday night around 11 pm my mother received the scariest phone call in the world. A call you never want to receive when your dad works up north on the ice roads, and out of cell service range most of the time. As soon as my mom answered I knew it wasn’t good news, her tone sounded like someone died. Thankfully, he is alive and back at home recovering from his injuries and it may take a month or two before he is all better
My father was one of the few lucky people that got to keep his job, a semi truck driver, during these hard times with the economy in a slump and now with COVID-19. However on Sunday night that all changed. He was on his way up to Inuvik (just north of Stewart Crossing) when his check engine light came on shortly after he fueled up in Stewart Crossing. Normally it’s nothing major but he decided to pull over and check out his truck just to be safe. When he got out he realized there was a lot of smoke starting to come from under the hood. By the time he released the hood clips and unlock his cow catcher the whole steering box was on fire and the wiring harness down the frame was smoking too, so he ran around to the side of his truck get the fire extinguisher from his sleeper cubbie. When he came back around the front with the extinguisher he fell extremely hard one the ice. He managed to pull himself back to his feet after falling a couple more times due to his leg injury and tried to put the fire out with the extinguisher but it was no use the fire had already spread to far.
He has been a dedicated driver for over 44 years bringing products and frieght to people all over the country (mostly northern BC and the Territories). My dad knows mostly all the locals in these small towns all the way till the road ends. Knowing the people up north in Inuvik desperately needed the food he was hauling he got back in his inflamed truck to unhook the trailer. By the time he got unhooked he went to get his stuff out of the truck and the cab had so much smoke in it he couldn’t breath so he grabbed the parka he had and his boots, threw them out of the truck and then got himself out. He was then forced to sit on the side of the road in - 20 not including the wind chill, in so much pain he was unable to get the boot onto his left foot due to the pain and swelling, as he lay watching his truck (his home 90%of the time, as well as our families source of income) burn to the ground along with his clothing, glasses, Cpap machine( helps him breathe at night) and tools, as well as his dads ashes. Everything he had in there is gone. The only lucky thing was that he was in a spot where he had phone service to call for help and notify his family of the situation and dispatcher(he said normally he doesn’t have service where he was, so this could have been a lot worse. We are more then greatful he made it out alive with minimal injuries compared to what could have happened ). He was then stuck there in the cold for a couple hours until the police arrived and took him to the hospital an hour and a half away to get checked out for his injuries they said it will take a month or two before he will be walking right. He also has more tests here in Edmonton(MRI, and other scans) to see if the muscles or tendons are severely torn and if a surgery will be required.
I know these are hard times for everyone. People are laid off due to COVID, some are battling the illness themselves, it is financially a hard time for everyone. Any little bit helps HUGELY! My dad will be off work recovering from his knee injury for at least a month. His truck, his source of income, is gone. We are a one income family as me and my brother attend school and the recession happened and we are suffering from the effects of this accident. Your help is greatly appreciated. Any funds raised from this GoFundMe will go directly towards helping my dad purchase a new truck so he can get back on the road doing what he loves or at least help with a couple bills.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read and donate if possible. Also thank you everyone for concern and their support thru this extremely difficult time greatly appreciated
