Get Biscuit Back on Her Paws
Beschermde donatie
Hi, my name is Biscuit! I am a 2.5-year-old mutt. I am the best girl! My parents rescued me from Kentucky, but now I’m a Tennessee Volunteer! I love to run and play in the yard. Long walks and hikes are my favorite with my mom and dad. This summer, I haven’t been able to do my favorite things very much!
In April, I was running around the yard and had the zoomies, and then my leg popped. I was so scared, and it hurt so bad. We went to the emergency vet, and they thought it was my ACL. When I got into the orthopedic vet, we found out it was a rare SDF tendon luxation. According to the ortho, it is a pretty rare injury and doesn’t happen in breeds like me very often! I had surgery in May. I came out fixed up and had to wear a cast for a whole month. I took so many pills I had my own pillbox! They had to keep me calm, and I could not get my cast wet at all. I did so good during my recovery; they said I was a model patient! I finally got my cast off and was able to walk normally!
We took our time and started with short leash walks so I could get my strength back. I was so happy to be able to be outside again! Then I was allowed to have a short amount of off-leash time in the yard as I gained even more strength. We took our time, and I started to gain confidence in my leg.
Then in August, I was prancing around my yard, and my leg started to hurt again. I got really scared, so I went inside. My mom noticed I was shaking, and I didn’t want to move. When I tried to get up, my leg was popping again, and it hurt really bad. I cried!
We went back to the ortho to see what was up and my right SDF is luxating now and I need another surgery. Again the ortho stressed it is very rare but my left one that was fixed up is looking great still!
Between surgery, cast changes, and meds, it was a hefty bill last time. I really appreciate any help to get my leg fixed up !
