For over 18 years Miss Cathy has been a devoted teacher to hundreds of young children at the Lindgren School and Summer Camp. She is an amazing, brilliant, and kind member of our community. Miss Cathy brings sunshine wherever she goes and puts a smile on everyone’s face. Miss Cathy has helped so many children develop into happy, creative and responsible people with her pre-kindergarten curriculum. Among many of the lovely things Miss Cathy has done for our children is taught them how to bake, she’s even brought in parents to participate in cooking classes. Together they have whipped up the most delicious recipes. Miss Cathy is also an incredible Art teacher and has developed a wonderful program that includes printmaking and beautiful painting techniques.
Miss Cathy is one of the most resilient people we know, she has never missed a day of teaching and always shows up for our children. Unfortunately, this fall, the day before school opened, Miss Cathy was rushed to the hospital with a brain bleed. This was a big scare for her and her family. Fortunately, she received excellent care during her 3 week stay at Valley Hospital. But sadly shortly after her brain stopped bleeding, her doctor noticed something wrong with her gallbladder. They tried to mend the issue with surgery but she experienced internal bleeding, and an infection. She again went into surgery to have her gallbladder removed. This past week she returned home and is recovering. Her recovery will take time, her body has been through so much, and she needs to continue healing for the next two months. While she has undergone very troubling and scary hospital stays, she has not been able to work and her life saving medical care has generated some very expensive hospital bills. All this, added on top of living on unemployment checks due to covid, from March until September.
Lindgren School’s staff want to do what we can to assist our dear friend and beloved co-worker. Please consider joining us to help Miss Cathy during these trying times. We hope that if we can ease this financial burden that she can focus on getting better, and getting back to what she loves; educating children! Let's give back to Miss Cathy who has given us so much.
