Get Ashli to the Chiefs
Donation protected
***UPDATE - You all are incredible. Ashli and Joe are not ones to ask for help - yet they would be the first to step up for others. Thank you so much for helping create a special moment for the family. We’ve met our goal and the tickets are all set up. Any extra will continue to go straight to the Hoos family to use as they need/want.
The Hoos family is aware of the fundraiser and is speechless. They are so grateful that you all love and support Ashli as they do. They ask that you PLEASE CONTINUE PRAYERS. Feel free to share on social media as you please.
NOW IF ANYONE HAS A MAHOMES CONNECTION, step on up. ;) I tweeted at him but that’s the extent of my reach.***
If you know Ashli Hoos, you know her love for her family, friends, work, and THE CHIEFS. That love is palpable. She has a servant heart and loves to help others. This is our time to help her.
Ashli (52) has been battling Glioblastoma since January 2023. She lives in Grand Island, Nebraska, is married to Joe and has three children - Haleigh (almost 24), Luke (22), and Haedyn (18). She has been a loyal employee at CHI Health/St. Francis in the dietitics program for 25+ years.
On January 12, 2023, Ashli had a headache - the worst of her life. She went to the ER and they found a brain bleed and mass. She had just had a great Christmas and New Years and watched the Chiefs stomp the Raiders. She and her husband had a trip booked for Cabo in March 2023. Time stopped and hasn't been the same since. She underwent a craniotomy on January 20 and received her diagnosis on January 26. After healing from surgery, she underwent 6 weeks of daily chemo and radiation. She continues on a chemo treatment plan now. She hasn't been able to travel outside of Nebraska since her diagnosis. Her disease continues to progress but it hasn't dampened her love for her people - or the Chiefs.
I recently asked her if she had any places she wanted to go or people to see. Life dream stuff. She perked right up and said, "I want to take my family to a Chiefs game and meet 'Ma homie' (her name for Patrick Mahomes)." If you haven't figured it out yet, she is a loyal Chiefs fan and has been a Mahomes fan for years. She has a small Christmas tree with Mahomes decorations and even brought one of his ornaments to hang on the IV pole during surgery for luck. For her 27th anniversary, she asked her husband for a KC Chiefs ring (which she recently lost - oops memory loss). More recently, you can see her donning her Mahomes wig.
We've been working our tails off to try and make this happen. We have a lead on tickets to the Chiefs v. Chargers game on October 22, 2023 for Ashli and her kids. This is a tough feat as the tickets need to be together and handicap accessible. These are pricy but she's worth it. I don't have a lead on the Mahomes request yet. You can't blame her for asking - I didn't put any limitations on the "who you want to see".
If you'd like to donate to help get Ashli to the Chiefs game, we welcome your support. If you can't offer monetary support, we ask for your prayers for her comfort and for the specialists to find a cure. Ashli would be very angry with me if I didn't also request a prayer for a Chiefs' Super Bowl win. :)
