It was a heavy decision for my wife, Darlene, to compete for Team USA at the 2022 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) WORLD Masters Championships in Orlando, FL, this December. With such a grand opportunity, part of what weighed on her was that I've had to travel so much this year and that I'd have to go again, on my dime. While I love doing this, it is costly. With some of you offering to help, anything is greatly appreciated.

As mentioned, Darlene has been competing non-stop in weightlifting. It started with a competition in Oceanside, which qualified her for the 2022 National Masters Weightlifting Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah (35 years and older). After competing in SLC, she qualified for the 2022 USA Weightlifting National Championships in Las Vegas, NV (for all age groups). With her 137 kg total (Women’s 49 kg, age 35-39), she was selected as a member of Team USA for the 2022 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) WORLD Masters Championships in Orlando, FL.

With our oldest in school, we plan to make this a short 2-night trip. Fly in Tuesday, compete Wednesday, and back home Thursday. In doing so, we won’t be away from our kids long, and I can still teach Thursday classes!

Expenses:

Round trip flight from San Diego to Orlando for one person: $345

Half of Hotel: $100

All donations would go to cover my airfare and stay. Any additional would make up the work I'd be missing. Thank you so much!
