Get Ariane to MD Anderson!

Hi all,

I'm trying to help get more awareness and help for my best friend to get treatment for her cancer at MD Anderson in Texas. The goal is to raise enough money for her to get down there to be seen and extra for expenses and travel!

Kacie shared Arianes story the best so instead of rewriting it here it is:

Early in January of 2023 Ariane was originally diagnosed with Extrapulmonary Poorly Differentiated Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, large cell. Her oncologist told her that it is a super rare but treatable form of Cancer. In February, with the help of her husband Derek, Ariane started a very intense form of chemotherapy. She had several CAT and PET scans throughout the year with her chemotherapy treatments in order to ensure the lesions were reacting properly.

Near the summer months Ariane ended up having ulcerative colitis (UC) which severely impacted her ability to continue on with chemotherapy at the time. After stopping all treatment for cancer in order to help reduce the UC Ariane was able to go back on a less aggressive form of chemotherapy. Then came the official diagnosis. Ariane has Medullary Thyroid Cancer (Stage 4) with a RET marker. Though KU med along with the help of the Mayo Clinic is trying their best to treat this form of cancer, there has been little to no end in sight. Luckily there is a treatment center that specializes in cancer with RET markers - MD Anderson in Texas.

However, there is a significant financial hurdle that stands in our way. Unfortunately, Ariane's insurance does not cover the expenses associated with MD Anderson, and the out-of-pocket costs are substantial. Just to have a conversation with a doctor, they are facing an out-of-pocket expense of $1029 (not including costs to get to and from the facility). The necessary tests, crucial for understanding and managing their condition, come with a staggering price tag of $55,200.

We understand that these are challenging times for many, but we are reaching out to our community in the spirit of solidarity and compassion. Ariane deserves every chance at receiving the specialized care she needs to fight this aggressive form of cancer.

The goal is to get Ariane to MD Anderson for treatment with the help from friends, family, loved ones, and all of those who are willing and able to support her at this time.

Family and Friends have come together in order to help Ariane and her family with maintaining a schedule that doesn’t overwhelm her as best we can. Ariane is a mom to Bentley and Cael and loving Spouse to Derek. She is a full time worker as an Insurance Manager on top of being actively involved in her children’s busy schedules. Ariane is a supportive and nurturing wife to her husband who serves as a Law Enforcement Officer for the greater Kansas City Area. Her and her family stay engaged with the church community as well as local events.
