Help Angela get divorced

If you’ve read any of my writing, you know how I roll - a tug-on-the-heartstrings story up front, a little humanities/socio-economic history lesson about how messed up our system is, then an “ask:” write a letter to your Congressperson, volunteer, etc. This one is a little different.

I’m asking you to help me get divorced.

Sometimes divorce is just necessary: mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. I need to get this done for many reasons, not the least of which is financial. You may be thinking, “why is she asking for help with this? Go to the courthouse, pay a few hundred dollars, sign some papers and voila, you are divorced.” This is true, unless it appears that your soon-to-be-ex believes that you should carry the entire financial burden of the failure of the relationship. And we know that our culture favors those who have resources. In this situation, looking out for myself and what I am legally entitled to, means spending money on good legal representation.

So, I’m asking for your help. There is not much more to be said.
