Get Andrew Rolling Again!

Hello friends and family!
I am raising funds for my brother, Andrew, to help purchase his dream bike. Andrew’s vision has reached a level where it is no longer safe for him to ride a bike without the assistance of a family member. Nonetheless, it is one of Andrew's favorite ways to experience his surroundings and a great way to enjoy the outdoors!

Over the years, we have discovered that tandem bikes were a great solution for Andrew to allow him the freedom to get back on the bike with the assistance of another rider. As birthday gifts, family members have purchased several tandem bicycles which were enjoyed for brief periods. Unfortunately, these secondhand tandems did not suit Andrew well. The main issue we experienced was durability and strength. We have broken 3 traditional tandems resulting in some dangerous stopping situations and long periods off the bike. With each rebuild cycle, we have discovered that a traditional tandem is not built to last for 2 grown men. A secondary drawback to a traditional tandem is the seating position, which seats the non-steering passenger (Andrew) at my back unable to enjoy the full experience of riding with his limited vision.

Enter the dream bike - the Hase Pino Steps
  • Designed for Strength - we’ve demoed this bike on several occasions over the past 2 years and it prevails where other bikes have broken (literally)
  • Great View for Passenger - The passenger sits up front allowing for a panoramic view, which is ideal for Andrew to take full advantage of his limited vision
  • More Oomph - Battery-powered motor gives a little boost for longer rides and allows other family members to enjoy rides with Andrew
  • Deep Talks - The driver and passenger can easily hold a conversation due to the unique seating positions. The passenger is specifically designed to sit up front (vs the back) and sits recumbent while the driver steers from the back in an upright position.

With one ride, Andrew had his heart set on this new adaptive bicycle.

Through the past few months, Andrew's tenacity opened an amazing opportunity for him to obtain this dream bicycle. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes the high costs of adaptive sports equipment and lack of resources should not keep individuals with physical challenges from being active. Through the generosity of this special foundation, Andrew was awarded the highest-level grant to support his sports and fitness endeavors that are currently out of his reach.

When we first demoed the bike from a local bike shop, Andrew never expected that he would have a bike of his own due to the cost. Although this grant is an absolute gift, it only covers a portion of the cost, which is where we hope our friends and family may consider stepping in to support Andrew. The immediate family has already pooled together funds along with the grant and are hoping to raise the remainder through this platform! Excess gofundme contributions will go towards future maintenance and accessories like upgraded kickstand, pedals, panniers, pannier racks, etc… for this awesome bike!

We believe this adaptive bike would drastically improve his quality of life and his ability to enjoy the outdoors. Please help me make this dream come true for Andrew, let’s get him rolling again!
