Hi, my name is Andrew, though if you're reading this, you more than likely know me better as the terminally-online s__tposter and political scream-weasel 'Rewhan' If not, you probably know my wife Natasha, who works as a cannabis reviewer and business consultant. And if you're neither of those things, then I have to assume you are a friend, relative, co-worker, or pleasant acquaintance of someone who is, in which case it's nice to meet you!
We are currently living in British Columbia, but while I have excellent job security here, the networking and industry opportunities for Natasha have dwindled in recent years. Natasha has not found consistent work for over eight months. As such, the plan was to move back east to the Southern Ontario area where there is more potential for work. Even if we don't end up in the Greater Toronto Area proper, getting between cities there is significantly easier than here on Van Island, especially without a car. However, there is one thing preventing us from doing that...
I would ask instead that you graciously help us put together a fund to move back out east. The current state of affairs is that we're treading water; neither falling severely behind in debt, nor making significant headway against it, so literally anything at all will be an enormous help. I know that $23k sounds like a lot, and for most people it is, but also, consider this: I have roughly 2,900 followers on BlueSky, at the time of this writing, and if each of those 2,900 people were to each give me a Fiver, that'd be over half of the goal raised. Make it eight dollars, and it'd be gone completely, with some change left over for a nice dinner to celebrate.
To reiterate, I am not expecting the grace of charity to pay our way by itself; I am, of course, still pursuing other means of legitimate debt mitigation and revenue streams outside of GFM in order to foot as much of the bill ourselves, as quickly as possible. We just really need a helping hand getting our feet back under us and squashing this negative financial inertia holding me and (especially) my wife's career back.
