Our year long plan for a Christmas trip with my fiancee's family to Montana quickly turned when I was in an accident that resulted in me breaking my tibial plateau (the joint the knee rests on - all of your body weight rests on) in two places.
This requires surgery and some major travel changes. I can't bend my leg at all for approximately 3 months. We called American Airlines and to upgrade to a seat with enough leg room will be over $2,000 dollars. Not to mention a wheelchair to our gate and other costs we're experiencing.
These costs are all on my fiancee who just graduated from college. (Side note he's a double hand transplant himself so helping me isn't always easy for me. I don't have a lot of extra income once I pay my bills and take care of my children's needs too.
