Abby was returning home with a friend and her family when the brakes went out on their vehicle. The car was hit on the passenger side right where Abby was sitting in the back seat and flipped 6 times. We thank God for Abby making it out of this accident alive.

Abby's injuries are extensive. She has multiple pelvic fractures, fractured scapula, pneumothorax (they inserted a chest tube) and facial lacerations. In addition to the pelvic ring fractures and sacral fractures: L2-L5 transverse vertebrae fractures, R eye orbital blow out fracture, R foot fractures. questionable sternum fracture, and a laceration to her spleen. She has undergone surgery and now has metal plating and screws holding her together.

Abby is in High School and is a Cross Country runner. Running is her passion. She was hoping to earn a scholarship for college in the future. The pelvic injuries have been a devastating blow to that dream. Abby will walk again and we pray that she will run some day as well.
Besides the expenses caring for Abby during recovery, her mother was laid off from her job at a Surgical Center in post-op recovery due to less elective surgeries during COVID-19. Tamara has been a nurse for 22 years. While it is excellent for Abby's recovery to have her very own nurse at home to take care of her, it will definitely strain the finances as Tamara is unsure when she will be able to look for another job and return to work.
Tamara was as prepared as one can be to lose their job, but not being able to start work again until Abby is stable at home will make things especially hard. She is also a single mom of six children. We are raising funds to help their family during this difficult time. Thank you!
