Hello Music Lovers, Banjo Addicts, and Good People:
We are starting a fund drive to get $2,300 for a man who is an outstanding banjo player and who has had a run of bad luck. First, his cancer has returned and he is back on chemo. (He is expected to make a full recovery.) Second, this last month he lost the last of his two beloved dogs. Third with the chemo situation he cannot work, has minimal income, and is out of his apartment. Fourth, he is playing a sub-par banjo and the neck needs major repair. The repair would cost more than the banjo is worth and the repair is out of his price range with his unemployment. So the purpose of this is to give a good guy, with a run of bad luck, a little good fortune and get him a banjo that will be a lifetime banjo and allow him do what he loves and what he is good at.
Elite banjo builder Arthur Hatfield, being the standup guy he is, has jump-started this with offering $500 off a brand new Hatfield Buck Creek banjo. And keep in mind Arthur is doing this just a couple months after having two big surgeries and being slowed down for a good while. Arthur remembers how he was helped when his shop had a fire. So please listen to Kevin play. He is waaaay too good a player to not have a banjo or not have one that fits his abilities. To me, helping Kevin get a good banjo is the right thing, the nice thing, and the fun thing to do.
Thank you,
Ken Hydinger
