Get Steve Graffi back on his feet!

On Sunday, July 26th, after working around the home, Steve decided to go cool off in the Mamquam river in Squamish with some friends.  While standing knee deep in the water he dove in to swim across the river.  With the silty water Steve didn't realize he was diving into a shallow spot.  The resulting impact fractured his C4 vertebrae along with others and damaged his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down and floating face down in the river.  Luckily, a friend pulled him from the river before he ingested too much water and drowned.  Steve has been taken to VGH  and has undergone an initial surgery to stabilize his damaged spine and promote healing of the spinal cord.   Steve is faced with a long, challenging, and uncertain road to recovery.   As a long time friend of Steve's I've seen him go out of his way on many occasions to lend a helping hand.  Now is the time that Steve needs our help and support.  I hope you can join me in any way you can to help support Steve as he will need all the help he can get to get back on his feet. 

The money raised will be handled by his loving sister Cristina Ahonen, and will be used to assist in his journey including medical equipment/devices and rehabilitation.
