Gessui's Funeral

When tragedy strikes, it is incumbent on our communities to rally around those touched by it. On the 31st of March, Gessui Tavares was another victim of COVID-19, and passed away leaving behind his two children and wife.

Our family remembers him as a loving, strong, funny, and humble man, that always remained positive throughout any situation. He was a role model, and someone admired by so many. He would do his best to make a difference and help those in need when he could. 

Tavares had lived in the city since 2003 and worked with carpentry, but his passion was cooking, often volunteering to prepare meals for his local church for many years. 

His untimely death has been devastating to many friends and family, and we will be forever grateful for his time on earth.  He was a man of honour,  virtue and highly regarded by many of those who knew him. 

I have currently been liaising with immediate family members and contacted several funeral directing companies, which have quoted me the value of around £6000 for the burial in his local borough alone. We are currently considering all of our options and understand that there may be other costs involved. 

We humbly ask you to help with funeral expenses and any future bills that this tragedy may incur. We are currently even considering the possibility of the transportation of the corpse to his home country of Brazil for a memorial service there.  After contacting some international funeral directors, as I understand, there are currently no restrictions for the transportation of COVID-19 victims to the country. All the money raised would go to the memorial service, flight tickets for family members, and any short term essential bills caused by his death.

Tavares was the main financial provider for his family and left his family behind with no savings or financial security. His wife has been unable to work or receive any source of income due to the current pandemic and therefore would be unable to be able to pay any of the costs involved for the funeral. 

We know that these are some difficult times, and we are aware that this pandemic has put a toll on so many families across the nation. Unfortunately, it has hit home for our family, and the last thing we could have imagined is to have lost someone so dear to us. Our hearts are filled with sorrow and sadness, and we would like to say thank you for any amount you can provide.  
 

Quando a tragédia ocorre, cabe às nossas comunidades reunir-se com aqueles que a tocam. No dia 31 de março, Gessui Tavares foi outra vítima do COVID-19 e faleceu deixando para trás seus dois filhos e esposa.

Nossa família se lembra dele como um homem amoroso, forte, engraçado e humilde, que sempre permaneceu positivo em qualquer situação. Ele era um modelo e alguém admirado por tantos. Ele faria o possível para fazer a diferença e ajudar os necessitados quando pudesse.

Tavares morava na cidade desde 2003 e trabalhava com carpintaria, mas sua paixão era cozinhar, muitas vezes se oferecendo para preparar refeições para sua igreja local por muitos anos.

Sua morte prematura foi devastadora para muitos amigos e familiares, e seremos eternamente gratos por seu tempo aqui na terra. Ele era um homem de honra, virtude e altamente considerado por muitos daqueles que o conheciam.

Atualmente, tenho tido contato com familiares imediatos e contatei várias empresas de direção funerárias, que me citaram o valor de cerca de £ 6000 para o enterro. Atualmente, estamos considerando todas as nossas opções e entendemos que pode haver outros custos envolvidos.

Pedimos humildemente que você ajude com despesas de funeral e quaisquer contas futuras em que essa tragédia possa incorrer. Atualmente, estamos considerando a nossa opções, including a possibilidade de o transporte do corpo para seu país natal, o que, como sabemos, pode ser bastante caro. Todo o dinheiro arrecadado iria para o memorial do funeral, bilhetes para familiares ir para Inglaterra/Brasil e quaisquer contas essenciais de curto prazo causadas por sua morte.

Tavares era o principal provedor financeiro de sua família e deixou sua família para trás sem nenhuma segurança financeira. Sua esposa está incapaz de trabalhar ou receber qualquer fonte de renda devido à atual pandemia e, portanto, seria incapaz de pagar qualquer um dos custos envolvidos no funeral.
 
Sabemos que esses são tempos difíceis e estamos conscientes de que essa pandemia afetou muitas famílias em todo o país. Infelizmente, chegou em casa a nossa família, e a última coisa que poderíamos imaginar é ter perdido alguém tão querido por nós. Nossos corações estão cheios de sofrimento e tristeza, e gostaríamos de agradecer por qualquer quantia que você puder fornecer.
