Gers Moving Together 2020

Donation protected

On Saturday the 27th of June, the club is encouraging all members to get out and walk, cycle or run 5k in support of Gers’ own Aryn Kelly’s 5k a day challenge for the month of June. It’s a great opportunity to get all the family out and wear your Black and Amber to help raise much needed funds for Aryn’s chosen charity Straight Ahead Ireland.

Aryn Kelly is 14 and plays for the Gers and his mum, Patricia, is on the Club’s Executive. Aryn’s parents discovered a raised area on his back during a lockdown haircut which turned out to be Scoliosis. He will need to get spinal surgery in the coming months and has a long 2 year rehab ahead. Aryn has remained positive through it all.

Aryn has decided to raise money for Straight Ahead Ireland by taking part in 5k by NOON in June, alongside his friends and families. The charity helps kids gets off public waiting lists to access surgery sooner.

For every €500 raised, we will set a fun challenge for members of the club. We may yet get to see Ted McEnery in Dublin colours or David Lavelle in a Ballyboden jersey!

We want to see as many photos as possible from everyone who takes part, make sure to tag us and use the hashtag #GersMovingTogether on social media.

You can email your photos and your distances to [email redacted] or send them into the Twitter, Instagram or Facebook pages.

There will be a small spot prize for the best dressed family in Black and Amber. We hope to see as many people wearing our club colours both locally and across the world to raise money for Straight Ahead Ireland and support Aryn Kelly.
