Gerry Travis’ Journey to Beat Cancer

Gerry Travis is a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend, coworker, animal lover and all around great human. He and Luann have been married for 32 years, and are residents of Falmouth MA since 1990 where they raised their two great kids, Kaitlyn and Jared.

Gerry is now facing a formidable foe: a very rare malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Cancer that is eroding his Rhomboid Back Muscle and 7th Thoracic vertebra. It will require a course of daily Radiation for 5 weeks in Boston at Dana Farber Cancer Center ( because of the rarity of the cancer - affecting only 1% of the population), followed by a 4-6 week break and then an extensive all day surgery with 3 doctors to remove the Sarcoma, rebuild the spine with rods, and perform Plastic Surgery to close the area with a wound flap. Unfortunately, help for Gerry’s rare diagnosis is only available in Boston - - Out of Network for his Insurance which creates a significant financial burden. He will be in the ICU for 3 days, the Boston hospital for a week, and then can expect a 2-3 month recovery…….ALL WITH THE EXPECTATION OF A CURE.

Gerry just had a serious ankle stabilization surgery in December 2021 followed by a lengthy recovery with complications and blood clots. He was just returning back to work and life when this new diagnosis was discovered in April 2022. He and Luann have requested the power of prayers, but friends have also identified their financial struggles (which they NEVER complain about).

With this series of medical problems, ANY HELP for our dear friends would be so appreciated to help with medical bills, transportation costs and everyday expenses to keep their household going.
