When you think of the name Geronimo, what comes to mind? In Greek methology, it means Hieronymos or Holy, Sacred. In Italian it means "Sacred Name". In the history of Native America, Geronimo was the last Apache Warrior Chief. In our family, he was a Warrior, Chief and Sacred in all the ways he carried his family on his shoulders. There was nothing he wouldn't do for us. We all loved and cared for him so much. His presence was so powerful and yet graceful, his words of wisdom were short but meaningful, his love for all of us shines bright through our pictures and will glow in our hearts forever. In 2015, our wonderful healthy dad and caring husband was bit from a brown recluse spider where the poisonous venom almost took his life. However this Santell Strong warrior fought to stay alive for us. Although kidney failure with other medial issues were the result of this spider bite, dialysis was his daily routine for the rest of his life until a kidney transplant was to be. He was given the name " The Miracle Spider Man" at the hospital when he began to show tremendous strength and was finally released to go home 6 months later. The next four years, were hard with endless Dr. visits, dialysis, emotional distress because he wasn't or couldn't be the man, husband, father, grandfather he used to be. He began to embrace his condition, enjoy seeing his family go on with their lives and be at peace with whatever came his way. Although his passing was imminent, our family was in total shock and disbelief at how it came to be after a wonderful Father's Day celebration. Due to his kidney failure, it was difficult to find a Life insurance that would accept his condition, once he did find one, its unfortunate that he passed before the vested time could be fulfilled. Therefore the family will need to pay for his memorial, funeral service and unpaid medical expenses. Many of you have asked, if there is anything you need, and so the answer is yes. We need your help with any donation you can give to support the family pay for our dad's memorial. He is survived by his wife Lucy Santell, his children Ana Rosa Santell Hitzel, Geronimo Santell and his step children - Sonia Casillo, Madeline Aponte Colon, Yadira Gonzalez, Janet Colon and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren he had the privilege and honor to watch over these years. Geronimo Santell, Warrior Sacred Chief, will be celebrated on Thursday July 11th, 2019.
