HELP GERI SILVI FIGHT CANCER

Geri Silvi has been my hero and best friend ever since we met in 1992, but she’s not just my hero! Geri was named a Cultural Arts Hero by On Media Magazine for her 25+ years as Arizona Theatre Company’s Ticketing Services Manager (see link below). She has helped thousands have a truly wonderful theatre experience. She’s also a single mother who raised two boys. Now she needs your help fighting the battle of her life.
Four years ago Geri was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. After 28 radiation sessions, and a daily dose of Chemo for two months, her tumor shrunk and she was able to have it successfully removed . She followed surgery with aggressive chemo treatments every few weeks for several months. She was cancer free until last year when she developed two lesions on her liver that were successfully treated, followed by another round of stronger chemo. The drugs turned her hands black and she almost died from the side effects. She was only able to withstand 10 out of 12 sessions before the drugs trying to save her life started doing more harm than good. During this entire period, Geri still managed to go to work every day.
Her CAT scan in December 2016 was clean…until now.
Now she has six cancerous lesions on her liver! To survive, Geri needs a combination of conventional and alternative therapy that’s not covered by insurance. The initial costs start at $50,000 for only the first three months, but could skyrocket to much more depending on her course of treatment, especially if she has to travel out of state. One of the methods, Insulin Potentiation Chemotherapy (IPT), is one of the safest and most innovative approaches to treating her cancer with great success. There is only one place in Arizona and one in Reno, Nevada that offer the treatments.
Geri is special. She has given of herself over and over again throughout the years that we’ve been friends. Her love and empathy for family, friends, co-workers, patrons of the arts, animals, and strangers is why when you meet Geri, you feel drawn to her. That’s her beautiful, generous soul.
