Support for Terri, Peets Labor Union member
During this difficult time, please consider showing support to Peet’s Labor Union member Terri McFadden - a beloved Oakland barista, drummer, artist and community member.
“Hi my name is Terri McFadden. I am a black trans man born and raised in Oakland, California. This past August, I was fired unexpectedly from my job at Peet’s Coffee, where I had been working for the past five years. Being able to serve the people within my community and brighten their days has always been something I held close to my heart. From being hired as a team member, to then becoming a barista, and working my way to be a shift lead, I have grown tremendously during my time at Peet’s. It pains me to have had to sever my connection so suddenly to many I considered family, especially so soon after our historical unionization efforts. This situation has put an intense financial strain on me and I am looking for assistance. My fiancé and I are currently navigating housing insecurity as we are unable to make next month's rent. I am also without health insurance and therefore have no access to my hormones. I appreciate any and all help you are able to offer during this time. Thank you.”
Terri needs our community support to cover rent, groceries, and other living expenses during this time. In the true spirit of solidarity, let’s all come together for our community. We got your back Terri!
