Hello everyone, my name is Dexter Robillos, I am writing this on behalf of my sister Allison Icban and the Icban/Robillos family.
Gerberry (Gerby) Icban became a husband (to my sister) in 2021, and a father (to my niece) in 2023. As of January 2024, he was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.
It was during this past Christmas and New Years he began having some discomfort that led to a visit to the ER where it was discovered that he had liver cirrhosis. The following days after, doctors ran more test diagnosing him with terminal liver cancer.
The doctors were working to improve the Hepatitis B before they could begin treatment of the cancer itself. And so, due to the nature of his complications, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, nor a liver transplant were viable options.
After 3 weeks in the hospital he was moved to palliative care where he was given 1-3 months to live.
Then just 4 days later his condition deteriorated to the point where we were notified and friends and family gathered to say their final farewells.
And so, after a short but hard fought battle, Gerby sadly passed away on March 1, 2024, shortly after Allison's 32nd birthday and Gelena's 1st birthday in February.

Hepatitis B (HBV) is a type of liver disease. Many people who become infected with HBV never feel sick and recover completely. Others get a brief, acute illness with fatigue and and loss of appetite and their skin and eyes turn yellow (a condition called "jaundice"). Less than 5% of adults who get acute hepatitis B develop chronic hepatitis, which can lead to cirrhosis (liver scarring) and/or liver cancer later in life. Chronic hepatitis B is a “silent” disease because often no symptoms appear until your liver is severely damaged.
Throughout his healthy years, Gerby was a selfless and caring husband. He was learning how to be an amazing father to his now one year old daughter, Gelena Mae Icban.
Gerby had started his own personal training business in 2020 to help others with their own health and wellness journeys. People from all walks of life have benefitted from his coaching, encouragement, and positivity, and there are many walking testaments to the profound impact he has had in improving their lives. He always radiated happiness, optimism and support to his family, friends and clients.
I am setting up this GoFundMe for the Icban/Robillos family to help cover the funeral costs and to help ease the financial strain on my sister as she raises baby Gelena and their 2 dogs Opie and Yuna as a single mother. These donations will help my sister and our family be able to focus on grieving and healing as we navigate our new reality.
We also appreciate direct donations via cash or e-transfer. If you prefer this method, please scroll down and click on “Contact” to reach me directly.
From the Icban and Robillos family we are very grateful for your love and support through these difficult times.
