GERALLT DAVIES FOUNDATION

My name is Caitlin Davies and on Sunday 8th June I will be running the Swansea Half Marathon in memory of my Uncle who sadly passed away April 2020. ABOUT THE GERALLT DAVIES FOUNDATION:

The Gerallt Davies Foundation was launched on the 27rd of

March 2022. This memorial foundation was established to

commemorate, celebrate and continue the life achievements

of Mr Gerallt Bowen Davies MBE CSt J Sefydliad Gerallt Davies Foundation

Davies MBE CStJ was a prominent figure in the healthcare

and uniformed services community in South Wales. A veteran of

the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust as a Paramedic based

in Swansea Ambulance station with over 20 years service, he

was revered by his colleagues and friends and patients. In

addition to his extensive service in the NHS, Gerallt was a senior

figure in St John Ambulance Cymru. Having held the position of

Commissioner, and National Operations Officer & Advisor. His

remit included successfully co-ordinating and overseeing the

medical provision and public safety at some of the highest

attended events in Welsh History, including the UEFA champions

league and BBC Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend…to name just a few.

In addition to these achievements, Gerallt was also a key figure

in establishing the Swansea Help Point (recently re-named

the Gerallt Davies Help Point in his memory). This night-time

economy multi-agency healthcare and welfare service

successfully expedites access to emergency &

unscheduled care along with providing a safe space supported

by police officers and volunteers in order to

improve safety within the Swansea City night-time economy,

whilst also relieving pressure on NHS and policing services.

Gerallt sadly and unexpectedly died on the 20th April

2024 in Morriston Hospital ICU from a COVID-19

infection aged 51. His colleagues, friends and family

are committed to continuing his legacy through the

Gerallt Davies Foundation
