Hey all, My name is Cat Del Re. I am a filmmaker, creator of Geraldine, and producer with my Partner (Jessy Greer) at We're There Films producing alongside More-Avenue (Jolene Mendes) and Something Extra Entertainment (Jessa Zarubica). To be directed by the magnetic Kelly Walker (My Fiona).
This in-depth psychological period thriller follows Geraldine, an emotionally deprived housewife in 1950 who's been sworn to secrecy and is suddenly jolted into confronting her traumatic past.
A past with a dead lover (due to war), admitted into a mother's home and forced to surrender a child without a choice, whether or not she wanted to keep it. All the while, she finds herself cascading into a sea of forced silence to live forward into a traditional family-accepted lifestyle.
Her story is about the ramifications of having no choice but to fulfill the social obligations of what a good wholesome woman represents in public and family life during the 1940s and 1950s.
This story has been a labor of love; with a feature film already written and ready to go, the proof of concept is a segway to getting the feature produced. Women's stories of this nature rarely see the spotlight and have difficulty getting noticed. Our team's intention with the proof of concept is to take it to festivals to garner meetings and gain visibility with larger production companies and studios to get the feature film greenlit!
This story unveils hidden woman's history in America, and the only way I discovered this world was through Geraldine haunting me, yep, HAUNTING. Feel free to ask away. It's a story all on its own! Through these discoveries, I found she was the face of many women and their stories they never had a chance to tell. With the current collapse of Roe vs. Wade, Geraldine is an integral step to understanding what America and women's lives were like before Roe vs. Wade and a cautionary tale of what could be again if we don't take the time to understand the fallouts of those choices in that generation.
