Gerald Parks and Family

Hi, my name is Brandi Horning. With the permission from Jessica and Gabe (my Twin sister and brother-in-law) I am making this GoFundMe. On 10-25-2022 Gerald (their son, my nephew) suffered a massive brain bleed. He was life flighted to Doernbechers Children’s Hospital in Portland, OR. When he got to the hospital he had to have brain surgery to remove an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation). It is a rare condition where there is an abnormal connection between arteries and veins in his brain. While Gerald is recovering and doing well since his surgery, he is still not out of the woods yet. After speaking with Gerald’s Neurosurgeon post surgery, they learned that when most people experience a brain bleed as massive as Geralds they normally don’t make it to the hospital in time, and if they do they typically don’t survive the surgery. Gerald is very lucky to be alive, but he is still in very critical condition. I am hoping to help raise funds for their family to help with any medical bills, travel and any other expenses they will incur on Gerald’s long road to recovery. On a positive note, he got moved from the PICU to the Neurology floor today. There are still a lot of unknowns ahead though and the estimated recovery time for getting out of the Hospital is also unknown.
