We would like to send a sincere thank you to everyone who has reached out to us after losing our beloved husband and father. Your sympathy and condolences have provided much comfort to our family during this sad time. We have created this memorial fund in Gerry's name that will benefit both the Felton Fire Protection District and Placer Hills Firefighter's Association. Both held special meaning to Gerry and the love he had for first responders and his communities.
Felton Fire Protection District (non-profit): Gerry was raised in Felton, CA and was a proud volunteer firefighter for the Felton Fire Department. He would always tell us stories of his glory days and how honored he was to serve his community. From the covered bridge pancake breakfasts to the firehouse haunted houses, the community is full of character and history. Gerry also began working at his family owned business, the Felton Quarry, at nine years old. There is where he was given the "I Crush Rock" gene that carried him through to retirement. Gerry's wishes were to be cremated and returned to his hometown among the redwoods and babbling brooks of Fall Creek. We know it would mean the world to him to support the town of Felton that he held so dear.
Placer Hills Firefighter's Association (non-profit): In 1987 our family moved to Meadow Vista, CA where Gerry continued his career in mining management and retired as Senior Production Manager for Teichert Aggregates. The town of Meadow Vista is a small foothills community that Gerry always felt held similar resemblance to his boyhood town of Felton. It is where his son, Gered, began his career as an EMT/Firefighter and now works for CalFire in Southern California. Meadow Vista has provided our family so many beautiful memories over the years. It is our wish to support the Placer Hills Firefighter's Association with their dedication and commitment to this community and its residents.
We so greatly appreciate any donations provided and will ensure the funds are split evenly between both non-profit organizations. Thank you sincerely for your generosity and may this memorial serve as a reminder to how important the first responders are that serve and protect us and our communities.
