Georgie Herrmann's Road to Recovery

6/8 Update: Georgie was able to get out of bed and into a chair today. If he continues to be mobile, keeps his oxygen levels up with controlled breathing, and is fever free for at least 48 hours they will discuss outpatient treatment options. This may still require them to continue his outpatient treatments at CHOP.

6/7 Update: MRI late last night confirmed the infection is only in Georgie's muscles and joints! Not his bones as previously advised. The doctors still believe that he will be hospitalized for at least 4 to 6 weeks (until the bacteria is out of his body). He is still very sore!

Thank you so much for the support and prayers!

George and Sam Herrmann’s son, Georgie, was taken to the local emergency room on Saturday, June 3, 2023, after he started having difficulty walking and severe pain in his legs. Sunday, June 4, 2023, he was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where he has been admitted to the ICU due to Sepsis currently believed to be a result of a serious Streptococcus (Strep) infection.

An MRI on June 5, 2023, confirmed that the infection has reached his bones and muscles. With this, the doctors have advised that he will most likely be hospitalized for a minimum of 4-6 weeks with a difficult road to full recovery following his inpatient stay.

While they have applied, Georgie’s parents have yet to secure a room at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House as they are currently full. During this time, they are staying in a hotel approximately 20 minutes from the hospital. Along with hotel costs they are paying tolls, gas, parking, and meals daily as they rotate shifts staying with Georgie at the hospital.

While Georgie is still in critical condition, both Sam and George are staying close to the hospital. Both will be out of work for some time and Georgie will most likely need additional outpatient care once released from the hospital.

We ask that you keep the entire family, including Georgie’s sister Julieann and brother Joe Joe, in your prayers as they work through this difficult time. We are currently working within our community to identify any additional resources and fundraising opportunities we may be able to put together to help the Herrmann Family, however, this all takes time. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Please help by sharing this with your friends and family as well.

If you know the Herrmann family you know that they have hearts of gold and are always willing to help when needed, it is our time to come together and help support them in any way possible during their time of need.

They appreciate all the prayers and well wishes they have received and cannot thank everyone enough for your outpouring of love!
