Hi there, my name is Georgia Whitfield, I’m currently 14 years old and in year 9 at Ormiston Chadwick Academy School in Widnes. I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to take part in a once in a lifetime expedition to Kenya in the Summer of 2025 for 4 weeks through my school.
During my time there I will take part in projects that will contribute towards building things such as sports facilities, school rooms, houses, new water facilities plus many more. We will also help the locals build Elephant deterrents so they don’t stand on all of the crops, de worm Goats and educate the local on how to make money from the animals without harming them. Whilst doing this I will get to meet the famous Maasai tribe.
I will be bonding with so many different people and making special memories with the local children and even get to trek through the Marungu Hills also meeting the Tumaini Women’s Group.
I am so looking forward to take part in the animal conservation projects, community projects, environmental projects and even a go on a safari adventure.
This incredible experience will help me develop so many different skills such as leadership, problem solving and many more that will stay with me through adult life.
I feel this will personally be a great challenge being away from home for 4 weeks all the way in Kenya, fully off the grid, it certainly is an amazing opportunity and one that I couldn’t live with if I had turned down.
To be able to take part, I must fund raise £4,330 over the next 18 months. So having said that I would be extremely grateful if you could help donate towards my fundraising journey in any way you can big or small.
Can I also kindly request if this could possibly be shared to people to reach a larger network and ultimately enable me to participate in this amazing opportunity to help others.
Thank you so much everybody!
Yours Sincerely,
Georgia Whitfield
Additional Camps International information,
Camps international are a wonderful organisation who started with a small camp on the Kenyan coast in 2002 and they now have more than 20 permanent camps in Africa, Asia and the Americas. Their conservation projects have help protect 100,000 hectares of wilderness in 7 of the worlds biggest biodiversity hotspots. They have provided homes for more than 60 of the poorest families and vaccinated/treated more than 26,000 livestock to improve animal welfare. Their reforestation efforts have established at least 1.1 million extra trees since 2003. They have positively impacted on the lives of over 120,000 people so as you can imagine I am so proud and grateful especially at my age that I have been given the opportunity to be a part of this project and am looking forward to the experience.
Overall Goal has been updated to help cover the costs of vaccinations and kit needed.
