Our sweet little Georgia Rae has been in the NICU for 13 weeks. She was born at 30 weeks 2 days. She weighed 1lb 6.9 oz. at birth and currently weighs 5lb 7oz. She has had a hole in her heart between the right and left ventricles (ASD - atrial septal defect). This defect measures 5 mm. The hole has been causing issues with her heart and lungs. It has kept her on oxygen longer than we would have hoped and it has also caused her to develop oral aversion. We have finally got the okay from the doctors at Mayo to get her heart fixed. Next week she’ll fly to mayo and have surgery to repair the hole at the end of the week. With the oral aversion she isn’t eating any food by mouth, so a week after heart surgery she’ll have another surgery to put in a g tube. This will allow us to bring her home sooner without having to wait for her to outgrow the oral aversion.
We will be at Mayo from 2-4 weeks for surgeries and recoveries. We appreciate prayers for Georgia and our other girls as they will not be able to go with us. If you feel inclined to help us with a donation, it will be used for medical expenses, food, and lodging. Thank you so much for all the love and support. We are definitely feeling lifted up by prayer ❤️
