Georgia Needs Transplant And Miracle ❤️
Donation protected
Georgia Mae Stella Kelley is the bright, adorable and sweet 2-year-old daughter of Gavin and Emily Kelley. Her smile lights up a room! She loves to play in her kitchen and spend time in her princess tent at her Memere’s with her dollies. She especially loves the character of Mirabel in the movie Encanto and the TV show, Bluey.
She is so fond of her big brothers, Dex and Sully, who love their little sister to pieces! Last year, the Kelley family bought a truck/RV, traveled the United States, and enjoyed many amazing, educational, fun adventures!
Since their return, they settled in Kennebunk and looked forward to returning to a bit of normalcy. Getting Dex acclimated to a new school, Sully and Georgia into day programs, and settling in for the winter, as many of us Mainers do.
Also high on the list was spending quality time with the children's grandparents, Memere Susan (Lavertu) and Papa Michael Kelley in Gorham; and Nana Marcella and Bestafar Michael Riisanger in Windham. And their special uncle and aunt, Brian and Kim DeRosa Kelley in Acton, MA.
In October, Georgia began coughing spells requiring an emergency room visit. After x-rays and CT scans, Georgia was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma - a type of liver cancer usually found in babies and children under the age of 3. Hepatoblastoma is rare, diagnosed in fewer than one in a million children!
She immediately began weekly chemotherapy and just finished her third course with a blood transfusion - the first of many. She will continue chemotherapy at Maine Medical Center until the end of November. Then, this precious girl and her parents need to spend a month in Boston at Children’s Hospital to prepare for a liver transplant.
Needless to say, the last few stressful weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions for this family! Trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for their children while dealing with this overwhelming one-in-a-million diagnosis of their daughter.
During this holiday season, while they are in Boston with Georgia, Susan and Michael will care for Dex and Sully during the week, and the family will gather as much as possible.
In the movie Encanto, Mirabel's magical power is as the cornerstone of her household. She is a personification of how important the family unit is and how key staying together is. Mirabel empowers everyone through magic and love, and it is because of their family and community that the storyline's miracle continues.
This beautiful family needs our support, our prayers, and our love. All funds raised will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on Georgia and her brothers, who love her so much.
Georgia is such a blessing in all the lives she touches. And miracles happen every single day! The spirit and magic of the holiday season will be soon upon us. May we all keep this family in our thoughts and prayers, hug our children, grandchildren, families and loved ones tightly, and always count our blessings.
Much peace and love,
