To know George and Amalia Morrissey is to love them. They are a beautiful couple that radiate kindness, strength and love. Amalia and George recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a true testament to the love they share. Unfortunately, they lost everything when Hurricane Ian devastated Sanibel Island, FL.
Here is a little back story in order for you to comprehend the hardships they have faced prior to moving to Sanibel, where they built a beautiful life together.
George and Amalia were in a tragic car accident on St. Thomas in March of 2013. Amalia was paralyzed from the neck down and told she wouldn’t be able to walk again. However, due to her resilience, determination, years of therapy, and a wonderful support system, she is now able to walk again with assistance. George has been her caretaker ever since, all while battling his own health problems.
Following the accident, they rebuilt their life in Sanibel with wonderful friends and a beautiful home, and in the blink of an eye, everything was taken. Having to evacuate with little notice, they were left with nothing but a few changes of clothing. All contributions will go towards replacing what was lost (a new residence, clothing, jewelry, home accessories, furniture, etc.) We appreciate any help you can give during this trying time!
