Georgia, 39, suffered a stroke
Donation protected
On Saturday, February 18th, the Kidd family (Georgia, Adam, Grace 15, Jasmine 9, Frank 8) were relaxing after a big day of activities when Georgia went inside and didn’t come back out. At 39 years old, the unthinkable happened, Georgia had a stroke. Thanks to the quick actions of her loving partner and paramedic crews, Georgia made it to the hospital within 45 minutes and the amazing Gold Coast University Hospital team was able to act quickly to save her life.
A blood clot had blocked blood flow to a mid-portion of Georgia’s brain. The team at GCUH operated straight away in an attempt to remove the clot but was only able to retrieve 50%. The next day, due to the damage from the clot, her brain continued to swell and doctors performed a craniotomy to reduce pressure within the brain. Unfortunately, her brain didn’t respond as required and a 3rd procedure was needed to remove this portion of her skull.
Georgia was placed in an induced coma in ICU to allow her brain and body to rest. She remained on life support for the next 9 days and we are thankful to report that she is now off of this and breathing on her own. The next part of Georgia’s journey is not going to be an easy road. Georgia has been there for anyone that knows her, at any time they are in need, and sometimes when they didn't know they needed it. She is a strong, caring, thoughtful and selfless person, having spent her life as a daughter, mother, friend, teacher, vet nurse, and more recently a surrogate to close friends. She is a hero and a pillar of strength to all those around her.
We are so grateful for the support and quick actions of the team at the GCUH as well as the paramedics that got her there so quickly.
At the request of the family, please keep the focus on sending good vibes and prayers for Georgia and allow for comfortable space as they cope and heal. Any contributions to this GoFundMe account will help the Kidd family with medical bills and other financial needs as Georgia begins her long rehab journey.
Thank you
