Dear friends and family and alumni of the Georgetown Polo Team,

We are excited to share that we are entering our second season as an established program within the United States Polo Association. Last year, your generous support helped us transform a dormant club that was struggling to field a team into a national contender; in April 2024 our men's team were named Reserve National Champions at the Intercollegiate National Tournament. This season, we are reaching out for your continued support as we strive to build on that momentum.

This season, our club will be represented by more than 15 members who come from a myriad of equestrian backgrounds. From experienced players who want to improve their handicap to beginners who are learning the fundamentals of polo, we are collectively dedicated to maintaining the club’s more than 60 year legacy at the school and representing it in arenas across the East Coast.

Our program is maintained by support from the University, donations from the USPA and US Polo Assn., logistical coordination by our coach, Gustavo Fraga-Errecart, and the dedication of our players. However, due to the nature of the sport, we face financial barriers that are hindering our ability to provide players with the gear they need and maintain a competitive practice and match schedule. Ultimately, our goal is to be able to host one to two practices a week, one to two local matches per semester, and one travel match per semester.

We have set a donation goal of $20,000 for our 2024-25 season fundraising campaign. The funds we receive will be deposited into our club bank account and allocated directly to the expenses outlined above. Spending from this account requires approval by our Treasurer, President, and Coach in order to guarantee appropriate and equitable distribution.

With the understanding that financial donations are not the only way to support our team, we would be eager to discuss contributions of other forms.
