George’s head shave

Donation protected

My name is George and I am 12 years old. My very good friend Fergus has recently been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and has started his  journey of treatment and recovery.  To support him, I’m shaving my head and will stand with him as he fights this horrible illness. We can’t wait to enjoy the fun times we’re planning as soon as he is better. I’d  love to raise as much money as I can to help research and find cures for bone cancer. Thank you so much for visiting this page and for any donation you are able to make.  George W

Message from Ruth and Ian (Fergus’s parents)

Our son, Fergus, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in January this year. It is the most common type of primary bone cancer found in children and young people but in a typical year there will still only be about 30 new cases in the UK. This means that when a child with bone cancer first appears at a GP’s door it is likely to be the first case they have encountered.
As well as offering research grants and support for people affected by bone cancer, Bone Cancer Research Trust works with doctors and nurses to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of bone cancers. Very simply, time saved though earlier diagnosis means better outcomes.
We are thankful to the Bone Cancer Research Trust for the work they do. We are grateful to the NHS and staff at Bristol Children’s Hospital for looking after our son so brilliantly and so very proud that Fergus has a friend like George.

Please support him you if can.

Before my head shave ...

Despite being small, the Bone Cancer                  Research Trust fund more research projects    exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer                 patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%! Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research      Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to
pioneering bone cancer research.
