Many of you know George and Denny Patterson as dear friends, mentors, and coaches.
For those who don't know them... George and Denny were pioneers in church multiplication back in the '70s and '80s, training church planters out in the field, right where they lived - Honduras
The approach they took to multiply disciples, leaders and churches has been used worldwide ever since.
George is probably best known for developing a discipleship outline called Seven Commands of Christ, as well as the Church Multiplication Guide, and Train & Multiply, the latter used worldwide in many languages. His article, The Spontaneous Multiplication of Churches, is a staple of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course.
George also heavily leverages skits and stories to make learning and training fun and engaging, yet powerful and reproducible. His brain is always churning working to make things easier and more multiplicative. A favorite saying of his, "Keep lowering the bar until it is strictly Biblical."
Now in their 80s, they continue to coach, train, consult and write on church planting movements.
Dr. Ralph Winter once described George as "one of the two or three world experts in the growth of the church," calling his missionary career “legendary."
Now in their 80s, they remain full-time in the work, coaching, training and writing, for workers in several countries, organizations and national backgrounds.
Recently, George suffered some serious health issues that has landing him in the hospital for extended amounts of time and requiring surgery.
Although he has recovered a bit - enough to return to a limted amount work - their health plan has left them several thousand dollars in debt. With more coming as he continues to need medication, check ups and medical treatment.
