(A message from George's daughter, Chloe)
Dearest friends,
Over the last few weeks, our dearly loved friend, mother, wife, coworker, and infamous troublemaker George McNutt has begun a journey to battle stage 4 metastatic colon cancer. Despite all of the uncertainties, fear, and apprehension, George has remained as spunky and snarky as ever; but financial worries are putting more stress on our family and her during this time when the greater focus should be on her healing. For this reason, we are reaching out to our vast network of friends, family, and John Hay community for any extra support you might be able to give.
George has been an active community member at John Hay Elementary and working with children for too many years to count. When I was too scared to go to my first day of Kindergarten 16 years ago, my mom simply came with me and volunteered around the school just to be there. 5 years later, I graduated, but we joke that my mom never did. She was embraced and engulfed in the John Hay and Queen Anne community, and began a lifelong passion for caring for the kids who need a little extra help. Her contagious laugh, unique sense of humor, and tendency to give the best hugs in the world has made her the favorite of many students and staff alike. We cannot wait for her to return to school and continue to brighten everyone’s day.
George has poured her love into this school and community that we are sharing this message with, and so now we ask for any help possible in taking care of her. We will continue to post updates on her condition for any interested, and would like to express endless gratitude for all of the love and support we have already received.
