George Morgan's Medical Fund
They say that it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to beg for permission. So, given that George Morgan would never agree to a GoFundMe being set up in his honor, asking for forgiveness is exactly what we’ll do.
If you know George, you know that he’s touched by a little something extra. He’s one of the kindest, most generous people you could ever have the chance to know. He is the ultimate family man and certainly the center of our (and his grandkids’) worlds.
That’s what makes his recent diagnosis so hard to swallow. After going to the doctor in mid-April with cold-like symptoms (cough, fatigue, muscle aches), he started undergoing testing, which revealed multiple myeloma in his bone marrow. Days later, that diagnosis was changed to plasma cell leukemia.
It’s a diagnosis we weren’t prepared for, but one that we are ready to fight head on with the help of an all-star medical team at KU Med. We feel fortunate that George is in great hands and that he has every chance to end up on the right side of the statistics. (I mean, if you’re doing Title Boxing at 63, it’s clear that you aren’t like most 63 year olds!)
With that in mind, George’s medical team has a plan in place and treatment is already underway (a mix of in-patient and out) and we’re counting the days until we can get him well, again.
Given that George has such an extensive (well-deserved) fan base, we’ve been fielding questions from people about what they can do to help. First, prayer… and then some more prayer, please.
Next, we know George is going to need to rest up for awhile and we don’t want him worrying about the day-to-day bills, so in lieu of flowers or fruit baskets, if you feel so inclined, any donations that are collected will be put towards medical bills.
If you want to stay up on his progress, please follow his story on Caring Bridge. We would love it, if you could leave uplifting words, a funny story or favorite memory over there, too. Please keep the mopey stuff to yourself, we're focused on keeping our eye on the prize! https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/georgemorgan
Thank you, in advance, for your well wishes, support and love. It takes a village, but we have faith that George will be back to chasing the grandkids around in no time.
