George: Looking to beat cancer, just like Grandma!
Donation protected

Good day fellow humans. This is George. We recently celebrated our 5th Adoptiversary together. Shortly after, he developed a limp, and wouldn’t use his left front leg. After a couple of days of worry, I took an emergency day off, and frantically called around to get an X-ray as soon as possible. From what could be seen, there were no sprains, breaks, or signs of tumors. After a couple of days of taking an anti-inflammatory, George’s mood improved, and his appetite returned.

Unfortunately, a few days before his follow-up, I noticed his left shoulder was set out further than his right. In the three weeks since his first appointment, cancer had formed. It was noticeable even without an X-ray, that something was wrong. I took another day off, and took him in early the next morning after the follow-up. As feared, but expected after reading up to it prior, the result was Osteosarcoma. Without the thousands of dollars to try chemo, the most common, and effective approach, is to amputate the leg. This is to cut out the cancer, and stop the spread.

The money I’m hoping to raise is just enough to cover the cost of the emergency surgery. As with many in our current climate, my finances have otherwise been stretched thin with having to take emergency time off, and being a caregiver. I have the surgery scheduled for about a week from now. (8/18)

He's not a licensed therapy dog, but George is one of the rare things in my life, that is able to help me with my anxiety...Both in my day to day existence, and also in being a calming influence for my disabled mother.

I thank all of you that have taken the time to read my story. I thank you for any contributions you might be able to make. I thank you for sharing my page. Every little bit helps, and every little bit makes me forever grateful.
