On the morning of October 11th, my husband George suffered a heart attack while driving, resulting in an accident where he totaled two parked cars and his Silverado. He was revived at the scene and transported to Chester County Hospital, where the doctors determined that he had a 100% blockage in one artery and a 90% blockage in another. The doctors were able to stabilize his heart via cardiac catheterization and the placement of stents. After his heart was stabilized, he was flown to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center via the Pennstar helicopter unit.
George was treated at Penn Presbyterian for a week. He underwent numerous CTs and x-rays to determine the extent of his injuries. George suffered seven broken ribs, a fractured ulna in his right arm, a lacerated spleen, and a lacerated liver. All of these injuries were the direct result of his car accident. George remained on a ventilator throughout his entire hospital stay, and unfortunately, he never regained consciousness. On October 18th, my family and I made the heartbreaking decision to remove him from life support. After discontinuing his sedation and turning off the ventilator, George passed away around 5:40 pm that evening.
All money raised will go directly towards George's medical expenses incurred during this tragic time. Please consider donating if you are able to. Thank you. -The Hughes Family
