Rob, Jammo and I are going to run the Edinburgh Marathon on the 28th May, 2023. We have never run a marathon, but we want to complete one to raise enough money to purchase two defibrillators: one for the primary school that I teach in and for one to be placed in the Heath area to support the local community. It is a cause that is close to our hearts!
In my primary school, your generous donations will allow the pupils, staff and school community to access this potentially life-saving equipment throughout the day.
Not only do we think this cause is incredibly important for schools, but the second defibrillator will be located in the Heath residential area where it will be accessible to all - a defibrillator is an item that no one really knows if they will need to use, but it will be registered to find and available if the need were to ever arise.
Defibrillators are devices that send an electric pulse or shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. They are used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, an uneven heartbeat that is too slow or too fast. If the heart suddenly stops, defibrillators can also help it beat again.
We will be supported by the wonderful charity: Calon Hearts. Calon Hearts is a charity that raises funds to assist in the provision of heart screening, defibrillators, CPR training and information to preserve and protect the health of the public in Wales. They will be supporting us and supplying the defibrillators for this great cause. Their website can be found below:
Any donation that goes towards the target of £1,890, will be greatly appreciated in going towards purchasing the life-saving equipment and supporting and promoting this fantastic charity too.
Many thanks,
