Hi, I’m Paris. This gofundme is being set up so that our dog, George, can have a surgery to help him breathe properly.

George came to us as a rescue in February. He had been starved and forced to live chained in a garden. When he came to us he weighed only 23KG. He is now 32KG and much happier!

Despite what he’s been through in just two short years, he is still an excitable, loving and trusting dog. His favourite things include shredding cardboard, playing tug of war and plodding along in the sun.

George needs BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery, which aims to relieve the effects of the condition.

In his case, the soft tissue in his mouth is too long and creates a partial blockage in his throat every time he breathes. This surgery involves removing the excess tissue and widening the nostrils to allow for easier, safer breathing.

This surgery has become urgent for George due to a life threatening episode that he had on April 6th.

Due to a combination of heat, overexcitement and his restricted airway, he went into severe breathing distress. His throat began to close and as a result his tongue and gums went purple due to a lack of oxygen. He could only breathe by extending his neck and wheezing. George was rushed to the emergency vets where he was given oxygen, sedation and rapid cooling to give his airway a chance to recover.

This situation was extremely frightening for everyone who loves George, and the vets who saved him confirmed this was a serious, life-threatening situation that he could have very easily not recovered from. Without this surgery, it is very likely that this will happen again.

All funds raised will be going towards George’s surgery and his recovery.
