George get home

Hello

We are hoping to raise funds for our friends who we met in St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol of November 2024.

After 405 days in hospitals, George has not been able to go home and we are hoping to raise funds to help his family adapt their home for George’s needs as currently, their home isn’t suitable to be able to look after him or have his carer stay.

Paige and Aaron have three children, Zara (aged 4) and George and Henry, twins who were born on November 6, 2024.

Currently, George still lives in Derriford Hospital due to their house not being suitable for George’s medical / care needs

**George’s Story**

George was born on November 6, 2024, at just 30 weeks and weighing 1.2 kg, diagnosed with TOF/OA (incomplete esophagus). He was rushed to NICU in Bristol, where he underwent an 8-hour surgery on November 7 to disconnect his feeding pipe from the airway and had a feeding tube placed directly into his stomach.

By December 17, at 6 weeks old, George had his esophagus repaired but spent his first Christmas on a ventilator. As they tried to reduce his breathing support, it became clear he needed further assistance, leading to multiple scans and a return to ventilation.

On February 5, 2025, George had an aorta-plexi operation to help open his airway, but it was unsuccessful. The family faced difficult choices: remain in Bristol, attempt another procedure in London, or fit a tracheostomy. They chose the tracheostomy, which was done on March 19. After a 48-hour recovery, George began a long journey in PICU, trying various ventilator settings.

On April 10, he experienced his first day outside, and by April 13, he was moved to a training ward to build tolerance off the ventilator. After nearly 9 months in the hospital, George returned to Derriford on August 6 to prepare for home care.

Now, at 406 days old, George is still in the hospital - spending his second Christmas there.

During George’s time at Bristol’s children’s hospital, he was diagnosed with PVL (Periventricular Leukomalacia) which is likely to turn into some form of Cerebral Palsy in the future.

His family are facing the challenge of funding the adaptions to their home to support George’s needs and cannot take him home unless their home is suitable.

They desperately want George home with Zara and Henry - your support will help them during this incredibly tough year. Thank you for reading
