Help George Gain Independence with an Elevator for his Home

Donation protected
Let’s help George continue to live the independent, fulfilling life he deserves.

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my nephew, George, an incredible 13-year-old who inspires everyone around him with his strength and determination.

George lives with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA), a rare, degenerative condition that impacts his ability to move freely. Despite the challenges this presents, George maintains his sense of humor, kindness and a zest for life that motivates everyone who knows him.

For any child, simple daily activities like going upstairs to do homework, getting a snack or even just saying hello to family should be commonplace activities. But for someone living with FA, these actions can become increasingly difficult. That’s why we’re raising funds to install an elevator in George’s home to give him the freedom and independence he deserves.

George’s family home has already been adapted to support his mobility with accessible entryways, bathroom modifications and other features to make everyday life easier. The elevator installation is the final retrofit that will give George full independence to move freely throughout his house, without relying on others for assistance. With this, he’ll be able to fully participate in family life, gain confidence and have the freedom to move between floors freely.

The cost of the elevator, including installation, is approximately $52,000. While George’s family is seeking funding through various organizations, they still need your help. Every donation brings us closer to giving George the chance to live as independently as possible—something we all deserve and something George needs a little more support to achieve.

If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others can make a huge difference. Your support, whether financial or by spreading the word, will help George reach this life-changing milestone.

Thank you for being a part of George’s journey. As Jim Abbott said, “It is not the disability that defines you; it is how you deal with the challenges that matter.” George has shown time and time again that his ability to rise above challenges is what truly defines him.
