Let's help George Saunders get to Tour Qualifying school

Fundraising target reached!

Hi everyone, we are pleased to let you know that the target has been reached thanks to your amazing generosity. George has been very humbled by the support he has received for this fundraising quest and he would like to thank all of you for the contributions. I am sure he will get round to thank you all individually once he gets the chance.

In the meantime, he continues to work hard on his game ready for September and we will post a further update with how he gets on.

"A couple of Liphook Golf club members have set up this page to help George on his way to Tour qualifying school which commences in September this year.

Many of the members will know George as he is often seen on the practice areas or playing with members which he does on a weekly basis. When he is not practicing or playing tournaments, George often works as a caddy at Sunningdale to help fund his career and quest at becoming a pro golfer.

The journey is not a cheap one as during the season there are weekly tournaments that require entry fees, travel costs and accommodation all taking a large chunk of his earned income.

Qualifying school costs £3000 and that is the target we have set to help George on his way. We feel strongly that our youngsters get a helping hand on achieving their aspirations and are pleased to be supporting George on this journey. He has an incredible work ethic and determination to succeed in his quest to qualify for the tour and wish him the best of luck.

A quick update to this page....we have been blown away by the generosity of people in only a few days raising £1700 and some being large donations. But please do not let this put you off from donating anything you can. Even lots of amounts of £10 will get us there! thank you.

A short note from George.........

"I have been very privileged to be a member of Liphook golf club since April 2024. In that time, I have been able to meet and play with some amazing people and am proud to represent the club, at county and national level.

Having returned from the States last year where I spent five years studying for a degree in Communications and playing college golf I am now competing full time on an elite amateur schedule of tournaments all over the UK, and against the best amateurs in the world. The time will come with turning professional, but for the present moment, I have goals within the amateur game that I really would like to achieve, And that is why I practice and you probably see me at the club every day If I am not competing. I have been very thankful to meet so many of the Liphook members, and they are now becoming a part of this journey that I am on.

I am really grateful to those members that are helping set up this funding page as the cost of Qualifying school at the end of the year is a lot for me to take on myself with all the constant weekly expenses golf demands each week travelling to tournaments. I would like you to know this isn’t just a go and see if I’m good enough to compete at Qualifying school and gain a challenge tour or DP world tour card, this is me fully believing in myself and knowing I can compete at this level. So having an opportunity to do this and be at level in my game to compete and gain a tour card gives me so much to be thankful for. I would therefore like to thank anyone in advance for supporting me in this quest."
