Geoff Wright MacMillan - 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours

Donation protected
At the start of this year, our family lost a truly remarkable man – our beloved grandpa, Geoff. After a brave and determined year-long battle against anaplastic thyroid cancer, one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer (with tragically low survival rates, often just months rather than years), he passed away peacefully. Geoff was the epitome of a gentleman: kind, generous, strong, and always putting others first. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering positivity touched everyone who knew him, and his absence leaves an enormous hole in our lives. Us three grandsons – Elliot, Huewlan, and Ethan – were especially close to him, and we wanted to honour his memory in a way that reflects the courage he showed throughout his illness.

To do that, we're taking on the gruelling National Three Peaks Challenge in the UK – climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon) within just 24 hours on 28th February 2026. This is no ordinary trek: the February weather will be brutal, with potential snow, ice, high winds, freezing temperatures, and long hours of darkness making it an incredibly tough physical and mental test. All funds we raise will go to the Nightingale Macmillan Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital, the specialist palliative care team who looked after Geoff so compassionately during his final weeks. The unit provided exceptional, dignified end-of-life care, expert symptom management, and genuine kindness that allowed him to remain comfortable and surrounded by love. Their work makes a real difference to families facing similar heartbreaking journeys, and by completing this challenge in Geoff's name, we're hoping to support them in continuing to offer that same level of outstanding care to others.

Any Donations will be greatly appreciated by us all. Thank you
