Geoff donating part of his liver to Victor.

Thank you all so much for your generosity. If you see donations are at $9500, please don’t donate. You can donate to the disease Vic has by searching it. We have already received an incredible amount and are very grateful. Anything, anything, that Geoff doesn’t need for his recovery, we will donate to the same disease research/help/another donor for another person. Thank all of you again. Geoff and Vic are very touched and I’m honoured to have helped in some way. One thing I will ask is: please remember how precious our healthcare system is and it should be growing and not shrinking. Everyone needs help sometimes. Thank you again.

My name is Steve Johnston and Geoff Kolomayz is one of my best friends and I am raising money on his behalf. He is donating part of his liver to one of his other best friends, Victor Mota. Geoff is one of the most giving people I know and is doing something that I only hope, if I was ever asked to do, I would have the same courage.
Victor has a liver disease explained here: https://www.karger.com/Article/Fulltext/444443

Being Canadian, we have amazing healthcare that is mostly free, but there are some expenses that happen. And, I believe when someone does such a generous act, they should not have to, even for a moment, worry about any finances.

His surgery to remove part of his liver and give it to Victor is scheduled for October 12, 2022.

The typical recovery time, meaning back to regular life (no longer needing support to go about daily tasks, get his groceries etc) is 6-8 weeks. Following that there are several months before his level of personal fitness and activity will be back to pre-surgery levels.

Given his level of health, the surgical team figures he will be able to work from home for desk duties at limited capacity about 3 weeks after his surgery
This return is with the consideration to monitoring how he feels. He won’t be able to return to full 8 hour days and may not be able to do consecutive days for a while. He has to monitor his own health and care around how much he exerts.

Most people know that Geoff is an incredibly hard worker, holding down multiple regular jobs, as well as being a working actor. All of these jobs will be unavailable to him for a minimum of 2 months. He will have a certain amount of EI, but again, we all know that money barely covers basics. And, things like physio etc are not covered by OHIP.

So please, if you can help Geoff help Victor. They are both wonderful people.
