Dear friends of the hounds, many of you have known us for a very long time and maybe you have adopted a beloved furry friend or two from us, or know someone who has. You know that we deeply love each and every one of our rescue hound dogs and we make sure that they get the best care. You know that we do our very best to run our rescue funds responsibly. We hold online auction and calendar fundraisers to help us stay current with our accounts. You hopefully trust us when we say that we need help.

During the past year, we have brought Ivy and Angel into our rescue and both of them have had expensive veterinary needs. We need to raise $1600 in Canadian dollars to help pay for heartworm treatment for Ivy, and we need $500 in US dollars to pay for ear infection treatments for Angel in Kentucky. The total is $2,300 in Canadian dollars needed for Ivy and Angel’s expenses. That is a lot of money and we are worried about this. Will you chip in a small amount or a larger one if you can?

Pretty Ivy was a shelter coonhound in Ohio and we of course had her tested for diseases there. She tested negative for heartworms in Ohio. Some of you might know that it takes 6 months for the immature microfilaria to grow to the size that produces a positive test result. Months after being adopted by a kind, loving family, Ivy tested positive for heartworms in Canada and the vet bills for her treatment were over $3200 Canadian! It’s a staggering sum! So we have committed to helping pay half, if you can help us!

Black Angel was a stray coonhound mix puppy in south Kentucky and she was on the run, a stray, living in the woods and town roadsides. She developed terrible mange and she starved for lack of food. She was afraid of everyone. She found a porch to hide under. Her health continued to fail and she could barely walk because her skin and paws were nearly destroyed by mange. Eventually a dog trapper was contacted to try to save her life. They blocked off all exits from that porch hole. The trapper crawled in and put a slip leash around her neck. Angel was saved by that dog trapper, but she had a long road of healing and weight gaining ahead of her, and she had heartworms too! Now Angel has healed completely except for one very persistent ear infection in one ear. She has had 5 different treatment approaches so far and now she is getting the 6th treatment. Angel deserves to be healed from her sore and itchy ear, after all she has been through!

Angel is adoptable and is being fostered in Kentucky! She is great with people of all ages, dogs of all sizes, cats, and is a big couch potato. She is going to make some family very happy! We think that she has some black lab in her background. Hound lab crosses are great dogs!
