Genovieve's new EP Birthday fundraiser!

Donation protected
Hey there!

My name is Gabby Battista (hello if you know me! and Hello if you do not!!) and I am raising money in hopes to fund my new EP's worth of music for my music project Genovieve!

With your donation, I will initially be paying deposits to set studio dates in place, then will be using those funds to cover studio days, hire out musicians, producers, mix/master folks so that these songs can reach their fullest potential!

These funds will be transferred through technology's finest wiring systems such as Zelle to ensure efficient payments!

In addition to my reasoning with this fundraiser below, I am essentially looking to give back to my community, and the communities I have built over the years with these songs, in hopes to have a means to play shows in your city, curate events and ultimately involve you in this process. I think eventually in these shows, being able to build enough audience to have ticket sales or merch fund or become part of a fundraising event (on a macro or micro scale) for others is my ultimate goal down the line. It's a vulnerable process, but one I would love to have you be a part of!

Here is the original message that started this all!! <3

Thanks so much for hopping over to this page. I decided to put this together on the eve of my 33rd solar return because venmo, zelle, paypal, cash app can be weird, and I would like to consolidate these donations to fund a brand new music project coming soon! If you were looking to buy me a drink or a pair of socks for my birthday this year, I would very much appreciate the equivalent funds in studio time, because I am booked to record a brand new EP this fall!

The What-This EP will consist of five brand new songs with all kinds of new sounds with a full band vibe, a week's worth of studio time with amazing musicians, mixing and mastering from the greats…the whole nine! This project from soup to nuts is going to be a very large investment, and though I am working around the clock for it to happen, I felt it would be nice since it is conveniently my birthday to extend an ask to my loved ones and friends and family far and wide! If you are new to this world and my music, you can check it out here!

The Why- Donating to this EP would not only make you a contributor, but also the first of folks to opt into my mailing list (no worries if not) AND I will do my bestest of it to play in your city in 2025!! (I cannot believe I am saying that, it sounds like the future but it’s actually…basically tomorrow)!! I would love for you to be a part of this, to grow along with how this all turns out, and to share this finish line together!

If this is all you want to read, thank you so much for considering, if you are able to contribute I would so greatly appreciate it! If you cannot absolutely stand these links, reach out to me!!

If you are looking to read a little bit further into some reflection time, feel free to continue on!

The How- To reflect a little on getting here: this year has been personally very difficult in a way it hasn't felt before. Having to continue to force my way out of the molds that I pressured myself to fit into for many years brought lots of fear and scarcity around the "what's next?" question. Maintaining a baseline of mental health in the midst of a global crisis of grief and dehumanization, on top of trying to navigate full and part time jobs, freelance work, and unemployment…it’s been, to say the least, a time. And I know so many of you are having a similar experience.

In light of all this, the best thing that has surfaced amongst all of the challenges in this past year was this surrounding community here that has been so incredibly encouraging. Whether it was emotionally being there for me, coming to one of my music shows, financial support, or even just keeping me in your thoughts when it came to artist residencies or classes. That encouragement centered me, allowing me to focus on what I knew I needed to do. I kept my head down and started writing music consistently for the first time ever. Before I fully committed to music, I was writing a song every so often and leaving it for another day. This year, I was able to write enough music to birth a completely new project. From moments in my bedroom, to a ranch in Montana, to zoom classroom prompts, I am so proud and grateful that I am actually doing this thing called pursuing a passion.

In posting this on gofundme, I want to acknowledge that there are asylum fundraisers and folks with dire needs who absolutely deserve your attention and financial aid. Below are fundraisers that I have been donating to/sharing amongst others. If you have read this far and have felt that this morally does not align with you to donate to art at this time, it is also my greatest wish to donate to any funds that can help folks who are in a state of emergency or in great need: here, here, and here.

I made this fundraiser with no expectations or pressure to meet this goal. My intention was to ultimately curate a self love assignment. If I had a friend looking to raise some money for a passion project I would be pitching this idea to them, so today I am that friend to myself. In a pseudo therapy session the other day, I had a mentor ask me about what I was afraid of financially, and I had told her, "I'm afraid that I don't have enough money to pursue my dreams." She replied with "Ok, now replace the word 'money' with 'love'." And frankly, I lost it.

It's taken years to reframe my mindset around my passions. To not always commodify them, attach my worth to them, make paychecks out of them. And for the first time ever, this is a passion I am looking to protect and cultivate joy from, as the music community I have fallen into has done so wonderfully.

Making art will be a lifelong journey for most of us artists as long as we are able to. I am so grateful for what it's taught me; how to love myself and build community, and I am so grateful for your love and support. If you are still reading: Thank you, I am filled with gratitude for your kindness, generosity, and the opportunities that have propelled me this far along. Happy Birthday to you!! Here’s to more kindness, healing, love and community care.

Truly yours,

Gabrielle Genovieve Battista
