Hi, we are Coby and Hanna, and we’re reaching out to Genevieve’s family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers to help raise funds for her and her family as she faces an incredibly tough battle with cancer.

If you’ve ever met Genevieve - Gena to those who love her - you’ll know she’s the first to offer help, the one whose energy lights up every room. She’s the life of the party, a devoted wife to AJ, a loving mum to Cody and Faith, and a caring stepmum to Felicity.

On July 31st, Genevieve received a heartbreaking diagnosis: squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer. At just 41 years old, she has her whole life ahead of her - and she’s now facing one of the biggest challenges of her life.

Many of you may know Genevieve as a friend, family member, nurse, or first aid volunteer with the Bribie Island Football Club. She’s spent over two decades caring for others as a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist at Caboolture Hospital. Now, it’s our turn to care for her.

What’s Ahead for Genevieve

Following a series of biopsies, CT scans, and PET scans, doctors have confirmed that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes, mouth, tongue, and throat.

On Tuesday, August 12th, Genevieve will undergo a complex and life-altering surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. The procedure will include:

• Lymphadenectomy – removal of affected lymph nodes

• Hemiglossectomy – removal of half her tongue

• Reconstruction – using muscle and skin tissue from her thigh to rebuild her mouth, tongue, and throat

• Skin graft – to repair the donor site on her thigh

• Tracheostomy – to assist with breathing while her mouth heals

This is just the beginning of a long journey. Genevieve will need extensive recovery time, rehabilitation, and further treatment. The emotional, physical, and financial toll is immense.
