Panther Robotics has qualified to go to Worlds in St. Louis, MO after competing in the Finger Lakes Regional FIRST® Robotics competition. This rookie robotics team from Geneva, NY, needs your help!
Geneva High school is a community of students with diverse backgrounds, interests, socio economic status and ethnicity. We have been able to offer this dynamic group of students a myriad of opportunities through collaboration with our community. However, despite having an abundance of engineering and mechanically-minded students, we have lacked opportunities for such individuals to develop these skills further. This year Geneva High has newly established a FIRST® Robotics team named Panther Robotics. What is FIRST® Robotics? FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.” It is an acronym that defines not only a robotics competition, but a way of providing students and mentors alike with the opportunity to experience everything that goes into a teamwork based engineering project. Students develop skills in, technology, problem solving, project management, teamwork, public speaking, and much more. For more information go to https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc
The team started with a 6 week build season on January 7th and culminated with our first competition on March 18th. The Panther Robotics team competed with resounding success. Our rookie team of 12 individuals qualified for the quarter finals by seeding 7th and then moved onto the semi-finals where we were defeated by very experienced and well funded teams. What an amazing feat for our Rookie!. Our team then went onto win the “Rookie Inspiration Award,” thereby qualifying us to compete at Worlds in St. Louis, Missouri. We were both surprised and overwhelmed by this honor!
We need your help to make this trip to St. Louis happen. We are looking for our Geneva community to assist financially with the expenses of getting our robot, team, and mentors to St. Louis to partake in this amazing experience! Please feel free to donate through this account or contact our mentor Andrea FitzGerald through the email link provided to facilitate larger tax-deductible donations to our team. Thank you for your support and encouragement! We will keep you updated on our progess to the FIRST® Robotics competition in St. Louis, MO.
